Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information when you use mangezi (mangezi.xyz) and its tools, including LyricTool. We process personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who is responsible for your information

2. Information we collect

Account information — such as your email address and any name you provide when you sign up or contact us.
Payment information — when you pay, our processor Paystack handles your card details. We receive limited information such as a payment reference, the last four digits and card type, and your billing status. We do not store your full card number.
Content you submit — audio, lyrics, track links or similar material you provide so a tool can process it, and the results generated.
Usage and technical data — such as log data, device/browser information, IP address and actions taken in the Services, used to operate and secure them.
Rugare TV installation count — after first launch, the Android app sends a random installation identifier and its app version. We retain only a one-way hash of that identifier to prevent duplicate counting; the counter does not store device details or attach an IP address to the installation record.
Cookies and similar technologies — used for essential functions such as keeping you signed in. See section 9.

3. How we use your information

to provide, maintain and improve the Services and process the tasks you request;
to process payments, manage prepaid credit and prevent fraud;
to communicate with you about your account, support requests and service notices;
to comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. Lawful basis for processing

We process your information where it is necessary to perform our contract with you (to deliver the Services and process payments), to comply with the law, for our legitimate interests (such as securing and improving the Services), or with your consent where required.

5. Payment processing

Card payments are processed by Paystack, a PCI-DSS-compliant payment provider. Your card data is submitted to and handled by Paystack under their own privacy terms. We never receive or store your full card details.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:

Paystack — to process payments and manage billing;
Music-metadata providers such as Musixmatch and Deezer — to look up track information you request;
Hosting and infrastructure providers — who store and serve the Services on our behalf;
Authorities — where required by law.

7. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside South Africa. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards and lawful transfer mechanisms permitted under POPIA.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the Services, meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. We delete or anonymise it when no longer needed.

9. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary for the Services to function (for example, to keep you signed in) and, where used, to understand and improve usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without essential cookies.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data and to notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires.

11. Your rights

Under POPIA you may, subject to law, request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact support@mangezi.xyz. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

12. Children

The Services are not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the current version, and material changes will be made available on this page.
